NEMO DIVE MASTER TRAINING HANDBOOK

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

You will complete three stages during your Dive Master training:

  1. Theory & E-Learning
  2. Dubai Assist Training and Skill Demonstrations
  3. Fujairah Leadership, Guided Dives and Deep Scenarios

This program is performance-based, not time-based.

You move to the next stage only when you meet competency requirements.

SECTION 1 — E-LEARNING

=============================================

Estimated Duration: 3–7 study days

Complete at home, before water sessions begin.

Required Study Modules:

  • Physics of diving
  • Physiology
  • Equipment systems
  •  Dive planning & risk management
  • Rescue concepts and emergency handling
  • Mapping and environmental awareness
  • Leadership and professional conduct
  • PADI Dive Master quizzes and knowledge reviews

Progression Requirement

You may start Section 2 (Dubai) only after:

☑ All e-learning modules completed

☑ All required quizzes passed

☑ Knowledge reviews completed and checked

☑ Instructor meeting for theory confirmation

SECTION 2 — DUBAI ASSIST & SKILLS

=============================================

Estimated Duration: 6–10 training days

Training Activities

You will:

  • Assist instructors in real courses
  • Work with Open Water, Discover Scuba, Advanced, or specialty students
  • Prepare and size equipment for students
  • Learn leadership safety roles
  • Demonstrate 24 scuba skills at professional demonstration standard
  • Control student positioning
  • Monitor student comfort and safety
  • Communicate effectively underwater and at surface

Skill Demonstration Requirements

All 24 skills must be:

  • Slow
  • Clear
  • Stable
  • Relaxed
  • With correct buoyancy and control

Minimum average skill score required: 3.8 to 4.0

Mapping Project (Dubai shore site)

You must produce:

  • Depth contour
  • Entry and exit points
  • Hazards and risks
  • Navigation reference lines
  • Emergency exit plan

 

 

 

Daily Evaluation Items

Each Dubai day is evaluated on:

  • Skill demonstration quality
  • Student support and safety
  • Situational awareness underwater
  • Attitude and professionalism
  • Communication with instructor
  • Reliability and punctuality

Progression Requirement

You may start Fujairah only when:

☑ All skill demos completed

☑ Minimum average skill score met

☑ Mapping project submitted

☑ At least 3–5 assist dives completed in Dubai

☑ Instructor confirms readiness and professionalism

If lower performance is observed, additional Dubai days will be scheduled.

SECTION 3 — FUJAIRAH LEADERSHIP & DEEP SCENARIOS

=============================================

Estimated Duration: 10–15 training days

(Depending on availability, customer flow, and student performance)

Leadership Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead certified divers on guided dives
  • Conduct full dive briefings
  • Plan dive routes, depth, time and turn pressure
  • Manage gas monitoring and customer comfort
  • Maintain safe group movement underwater
  • Execute safe ascents and safety stops
  • Handle problem-solving calmly
  • Complete post-dive reporting and logging

Advanced Dive Planning

You must demonstrate:

  • Gas planning and turn point management
  • Environmental assessment and weather evaluation
  • Dive site decision making
  • Safety stop strategy
  • Contingency planning
  • Emergency exit consideration

Deep Scenario Training

Under supervision, you will:

  • Perform deep dive planning
  • Recognize narcosis awareness
  • Execute controlled ascents
  • Maintain group control at depth
  • Manage time and gas limits safely

Site Mapping (Fujairah)

You must document:

  • Depth profile map
  • Navigation routes
  • Hazard identification
  • Emergency exit considerations
  • Environmental factors

LEADERSHIP SCORING SYSTEM

=============================================

Each leadership dive in Fujairah is graded 1–10 on:

  • Briefing clarity
  • Dive route planning
  • Navigation and underwater control
  • Gas and safety awareness
  • Customer comfort handling
  • Calm emergency response
  • Team communication
  • Instructor confidence level
  • Signaling and positioning

Progression Requirement

To complete the program:

☑ Minimum average score: 7.5 or higher

☑ Instructor confirms consistent safety and leadership

☑ All required leadership dives completed

☑ All mapping and planning tasks submitted

☑ Professional reliability and attitude demonstrated

If performance is below expected standard, extra leadership dives will be added.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

To certify as a Dive Master, you must:

  • Demonstrate all 24 skills to professional standard
  • Successfully assist multiple student courses
  • Lead certified divers safely and calmly
  • Show strong underwater navigation
  • Plan dives independently with instructor approval
  • Maintain reliable safety and communication
  • Demonstrate professional attitude and readiness
  • Meet scoring average in leadership dives

 

 

Certification is awarded only when competency is achieved

—not based on attendance or calendar time.

  • Arrive on time and prepared
  • Complete assigned theory before in-water sessions
  • Maintain respectful and patient communication
  • Take responsibility for your learning pace
  • Follow instructor guidance consistently

  • Work calmly with nervous students or divers
